Four Arkansas Hospitals Honored for Organ Donation
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently honored 371 of the nation's hospitals for substantially raising the organ donation rates of eligible donors from their facilities –– and Baptist Health in Little Rock, along with Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs and St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro to earn a Medal of Honor for Organ Donation award.

Medal-winning hospitals were cited for achieving and sustaining a donation rate of 75 percent or more of eligible donors. By contrast, the national average donation rate in all hospitals was 59 percent in 2005, up from 55 percent in 2004.
