LITTLE ROCK — Vascular surgeon Ulugbek “Bek” Negmadjanov, M.D., RPVI, joins the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) as an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery’s Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery.

 

He will see patients at the UAMS Health Vascular Surgery Clinic as well as Baptist Health Medical Center, the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans’ Hospital and Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

 

Board-certified in general surgery, Negmadjanov is also certified as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) by the Alliance for Physician Certification & Advancement and is in the process of obtaining vascular surgery certification. He specializes in managing arterial and aortic aneurysms and dissections, carotid artery disease and lower extremity arterial disease. He is also experienced in creating vascular access for hemodialysis and managing less common conditions such as renal artery disease and mesenteric arterial disease. He has a particular interest in vascular exposures during spinal surgery and also performs decompressive procedures for thoracic outlet syndrome.

 

Negmadjanov joins UAMS from the Wake Forest School of Medicine, where he completed his fellowship in vascular and endovascular surgery. He earned his medical degree from Samarkand State Medical Institute in Uzbekistan and performed his general surgery residency at the Yale School of Medicine and the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University.

 

He has contributed significantly to advancing vascular surgery through research, with over 30 peer-reviewed publications and presentations at regional and national meetings.

 

Among his academic accolades, Negmadjanov has been recognized for outstanding medical knowledge, scholarship and humanitarian contributions throughout his training, receiving the Surgical ICU resident of the year at Yale New Haven School of Medicine, Program Director’s Award Achievement in Scholarship and numerous awards for medical knowledge at Florida Atlantic University and David Wulkan Humanitarian Award at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. His research has garnered awards including Aurora Research Institute’s New Investigator Award, Cardiovascular Surgery Research Award as well as several travel scholarship awards granted by Florida Vascular Society and Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery

 

In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Negmadjanov will mentor surgical residents and medical students, furthering UAMS’ commitment to training the next generation of health care providers.
