MOUNTAIN HOME - CARTI has been named the recipient of a $35,000 grant from the Baxter International Foundation to assist underserved cancer patients in Mountain Home and surrounding areas with housing and transportation costs related to accessing treatment, providing sustained access to healthcare in the community.
Jones said the Baxter International Foundation Community grant will be used to fund “Access to Treatment—Overcoming Barriers,” a program designed to assist qualifying cancer patients in Baxter County and surrounding areas with necessary travel and housing expenses related to daily cancer treatment.
According to Jones, the grant will allow CARTI to provide qualifying cancer patients with travel and lodging expenses such as fuel vouchers and complimentary housing.
Jones said the funding will help CARTI ensure that otherwise underserved cancer patients have access to quality treatment by helping to relieve the stress and anxiety caused by financial strains, so the patient can better focus on completing their treatment and fighting their cancer.
