Welcome to the 2017 edition of our InCharge magazine! We’re pleased to bring you not only this one-of-a-kind listing of healthcare executives throughout our great state, but also the valuable advice, strategy and insight of the five dynamic professionals we chose to grace this year’s cover.
One of our state’s most respected, innovative and involved healthcare leaders is Ray Montgomery, who leads the Unity Health System in eight Arkansas counties.
Eric Pianalto is a native of Northwest Arkansas who has personally witnessed the phenomenal growth of that corner of the state. He is an effective healthcare leader who has led Mercy’s NWA hospital through the tremendous expansion needed to accommodate the region’s growth.
After a national search, Cindy Gillespie was recruited just over a year ago by Governor Hutchinson to head the Department of Human Services, Arkansas’ largest agency, bringing with her an abundance of experience at both the federal and state levels.
Dr. Daniel Rahn is a “proven winner” and a nationally recognized researcher, clinician and experienced administrator who arrived in 2009 to lead UAMS - Arkansas’s largest public employer with five colleges, a graduate school, eight regional centers and seven institutes.
For the past year, Dr. Scott Cooper has served as the President of the Arkansas Medical Society. He’s also an orthopedic surgeon who believes in physician leadership as a strategy to help control healthcare spending and for promoting the best and most fiscally responsible public health initiatives.
I hope you’ll enjoy their comments and insights in this year’s cover story, Innovation, Collaboration and the Ever-Changing ACA. We’re hopeful that InCharge 2017 will be an important resource for you in developing partnerships in the industry as we all work toward making our healthcare system the best it can be.
A lot of thought and effort went into creating this directory. Still, we know that there are others who could be included in future editions. Please send your comments and nominations for next year. I appreciate your loyal readership which inspires us to continue bringing you local, statewide and national medical news.
